Organic agriculture

One of the essential conditions for the development of modern agriculture is the promotion of the concept of organic agriculture in order to make consumers aware of the advantages of consuming organic products.

CertRom-OC is a national inspection and certification body for organic products accredited by RENAR with certificate no. OR 012 and MADR approval certificate no. 21.

Organic farming is governed by REGULATION (EU) 848/2018 on organic production and labelling of organic products and related national organic farming legislation.

Our mission is to check the agricultural holdings (vegetal / animal) , the units of placing on the market/distribution and trade / import comply with the requirements defined in the community regulations and the national legislation (MADR), as well as to issue, under the conditions of permanent compliance with the established rules, the document attesting the conformity.

COMMISSION DELEGATED REGULATION (EU) 2021/1698 of 13 July 2021 supplementing Regulation (EU) 2018/848 of the European Parliament and of the Council with procedural requirements for the recognition of control authorities and control bodies which are competent to carry out controls in relation to certified organic operators, groups of certified organic operators and organic products from third countries, and with rules on the supervision of those control authorities and control bodies and the controls and other actions to be carried out by those control authorities and control bodies.

DELEGATED COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) 2021/1697 of 13 July 2021 amending Regulation (EU) 2018/848 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the criteria for the recognition of control authorities and control bodies which are competent to carry out controls on organic products in third countries and the withdrawal of their recognition;

DELEGATED COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) 2021/1342 of 27 May 2021 supplementing Regulation (EU) 2018/848 of the European Parliament and of the Council with rules on the information to be sent by third countries and control authorities and control bodies for the purpose of supervision of their recognition under Article 33(2) and (3) of Council Regulation (EC) No 834/2007 as regards imported organic products, as well as on the measures to be taken in the exercise of that supervision.

The reference standards for CertRom’s activity are:

  • SR EN ISO/IEC 17065:2013 – Conformity assessment. Requirements for certification bodies for products, processes and services;
  • REGULATION (EU) 848/2018 on organic production and labelling of organic products and repealing Council Regulation (EC) No 834/2007;
  • Order 312 of 05 November 2021 on the organisation of the inspection and certification system, the authorisation of inspection bodies and the supervision of their activity in organic agriculture.

CertRom has the technical capability (qualified, trained and experienced personnel) to carry out organic production compliance control and certification activities in the following fields of activity:

  • Unprocessed plants and plant products;
  • Unprocessed animals and animal products;
  • Agricultural products processed for use as food

Certification of conformity of organic products involves the completion by the operator and the CertRom-OC control and certification body of certain stages with concrete and well-defined tasks and responsibilities by both parties in order to control compliance with the provisions of the legislation in force on organic production.

The control/certification activities carried out on operators producing, processing/preparing, distributing/marketing, storing, importing and exporting certified and/or in-conversion agri-food products from a third country are carried out, for a certification cycle, during one year and include the following:

  • the initial control to obtain certification;
  • supervision: additional checks during the validity of the certificate

After the conversion period, following the control carried out, operators who have complied with the production rules will receive the organic certificate and will be able to label their products with the mention of organic status.

The national logo/EU logo on the label of an organic product has the following meanings:

The national logo “ae”, specific to organic products, together with the Community logo are used to complete the labelling, in order to identify by consumers the products obtained according to organic production methods.

The Community logo gives recognition to certified organic products throughout the European Union.
